How to read your result
The corpus is 900+ complaints pulled from 8 platforms — Reddit, Hacker News, GitHub, Stack Exchange and more — each scored on the same intent lattice. Here is what each part of the result does and does not mean.
Adjacent complaints
We count every complaint in the corpus that shares your idea's words — that is adjacency, not validation. Read the three closest ones yourself before believing the number.
Intent scores
Every complaint carries a 0-100 commercial-intent score from our two-pass rubric: willingness to pay, switching intent, repetition. The badge on each match is that score.
Demand signal
A decision model reads your idea against the matched complaints and answers one question: does genuine demand exist? A signal to investigate — never a guarantee.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the reality check free?
- Yes. The result — match count, the closest complaints, and the demand signal — is free and needs no email. The full report (every matching complaint, the competitor landscape, and a validation playbook) is the only email-gated part.
- What does the demand signal actually measure?
- A decision model is shown your idea and the real complaints that matched it, each with its platform and intent score, and answers one question: do these complaints describe problems your idea would solve? It reads the evidence; it does not survey the market. Treat it as a signal to investigate, not proof of demand.
- What if no complaints match my idea?
- That means the corpus has no complaint sharing your idea's wording. It can be genuinely novel, or people may describe the pain in different words — try rephrasing with the words your users would use. No match is reported as no signal, never as no demand.
- What happens to my idea text?
- The free check sends it to our matching API and stores nothing. If you request the full report, we store the idea with your email in our leads table so the report can be written and sent — that is the only case anything is saved.
